I know Heidi or Kati usually do a Fiction Friday post, but today I’m taking over to make a super exciting special announcement: Pitch Wars is back!

I’m not sure if any of you remember this event from last year, but I kinda think it’s one of the coolest writing contests ever. Pitch Wars is how I became such good friends with Heidi and Kati, and the amazing Elizabeth Briggs–who was our Mentor last year. I don’t know that I’ve ever had more fun with a contest, and I’m so excited because this year I get to be a mentor!

For those of you unfamiliar with the event, here’s a basic rundown of just how fantastic it is (stolen from Brenda Drake’s blog):

“Pitch Wars is forever away, but it will be here be here before you know it! What is Pitch Wars? Is it another contest? Oh, no, it’s so much better. Pitch Wars is a contest where 46 published/agented authors, editors, or interns choose one writer each, read their manuscript, and offer suggestions to shine it up for agents. The mentors also critique the writer’s pitch to get it ready for the agent round. Mentors will pick two alternates each in case their writer drops out of the contest. We’ll hold a special alternate showcase on some of the mentors’ blogs and the mentors will critique the alternate’s pitches.

Why am I announcing this contest so early? Cause writers will get to send applications (query and first page of manuscript) to four mentors and I want you all to have time to get to know our mentors and decide which ones would be the best fit for you.”

Doesn’t that sound amazingly fantastic? For more information be sure to check out Brenda Drake’s blog. She has all the other mentors listed, along with links to their blogs. Wish-lists haven’t been posted yet, but they’ll be coming soon. If any of you are thinking of participating, I really hope you’ll consider me. Last year I was on the best team ever and I’m hoping to be a part of another incredible team this year!

For anyone who’s curious as to when all of this awesomeness starts, here’s the schedule:

11/20: Mentors post bios and wish-lists
12/2: Submission window
12/3-12/10: Mentors announce their picks
12/11-1/17: Mentors work with their writers
1/22-1/23: Agents round

If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. And be sure to check out Brenda’s blog!
